The sirens heard in Knox Friday night were to alert residents that Steven Graman returned home after serving the last four years overseas in the Air Force.
Area police departments and fire departments escorted Graman home where friends and family were gathered at the Knox VFW Post #748 to celebrate his return.
“It is beyond words,” said Graman of his welcome home caravan. “I tried to get the answer out of my Mom, but she wasn’t giving me any hints and then I show up and I get to see all of this! It’s just amazing. It’s truly the homecoming that I never thought I’d get.”
Graman said he has been working as security police as his work with the Air Force and he will continue his career in the Air Force after his stay at home.
“My job title is Security Forces and it’s kept me busy. I’m just excited to be back home. I’m headed to Florida next and that’s what I’m going to do.”
Graman is a 2012 graduate of Knox High School.
